Harrogate Spring Flower Show may not quite be able to happen in the normal way but today, Thursday has seen the launch of something just as exciting.

For this year organisers the North of England Horticultural Society (which runs Harrogate Flower Shows based in Ripon) are replacing the traditional spring show, on its 100th anniversary year, with a new Covid-safe event called Spring Essentials, which is taking place at the Great Yorkshire Showground from May 20 - 23.

Unveiled at the last minute to ensure it was in line with the shifting situation with the pandemic, the Covid-safe Spring Essentials event is one of the first major gardening shows to take place in all of 2021.

Spring Essentials will make use of the fantastic green open spaces at the Great Yorkshire Showground to help ensure that we can all stay safe and still enjoy a great day out - and the vaccination centre can continue working,

This special, one-off, outdoor event will offer favourite features like show gardens, plant nurseries, garden shopping, crafts, gifts and specialist foods. and live theatres, plus all the essentials you need for the new growing season.

There is also a programme of live outdoor theatre includes daily demos by celebrity floral designer Jonathan Moseley and plot to plate recipes from TV chef Stephanie Moon with advice and Q&As.

Due to social distancing requirements, the number of visitors will be limited each day and tickets must be purchased in advance.

There will be on ticket sales at the gate but children under 16 are free when accompanied by an adult and parking is free.
