NORTHALLERTON’s Joe Cornish Gallery is one of the first businesses based in North Yorkshire to benefit from the newly-launched National Loan Guarantee Scheme (NLGS).
Joe Cornish Gallery, an art gallery based on Zetland Street, was established in 1999 and exhibits photography and art from many local artists including local well known photographer Joe Cornish.
The gallery also offers one-day workshops to help budding photographers enjoy and improve their landscape photography.
Gallery director Joni Essex said: “The gallery has been going through substantial redevelopment over the last year and this new funding has enabled us to complete the work on the building.
“The timing couldn’t have been better as the new loan under the National Loan Guarantee Scheme comes with a substantial cash back payment, which will provide us with the flexibility to expand our range and facilities.”
The gallery and shop employs six staff locally and also specialises in limited edition prints, greeting cards, calendars, books and gifts.
Michael Oliver, manager with Business Banking, Barclays, said: “By giving Joe Cornish Gallery the full benefit of the NLGS on day one, it receives a lump sum of cash which it can put to use immediately to grow the business.
“SMEs are the lifeblood of our economy and we’re delighted to be part of a scheme that means we can offer this new initiative to our customers.
“The funding is limited so we need to ensure as many North Yorkshire businesses as possible are aware of and taking advantage of this new scheme.”
