FRESH from its success with comedy legend Arthur Smith last week, sitting room comedy club in Harrogate has pulled off another coup - it’s to host the AmusedMoose LaughOff Awards.
Taking place all day on Sunday, April 1 at Rehab bar on Parliament Street in Harrogate, it’s one of the most prestigious and highly regarded new act competitions in the country.
It is an impressive achievement for a comedy club so young to be offered the chance to host the event which has seen Jimmy Carr, Rhod Gilbert, Sarah Millican, Mark Watson and many more all battle it out for the LaughOff crown.
Following a ‘quickfire’ audition process where entrants perform their best 90 seconds of material to industry professionals, the best new acts progress to this North of England heat at 4pm.
Hosted by sitting room promoter and resident MC, Tom Taylor, this section is free entry for the public.
The winners will then progress through to the ‘Northern’ quarter final which begins at 8pm and will be hosted by sitting room favourite, Carly Smallman.
Tickets for the evening event are priced at £6.
As well as being recognition for the hard work put in by the sitting room team and the excellent reputation sitting room is developing for delivering high quality comedy, this will be an excellent chance to catch some of the stars of tomorrow and to catch them before the ‘they’re-now-famous’ ticket price increase.
Tickets and more information about the AmusedMoose LaughOff Awards and upcoming sitting room shows on April 11, May 9 and June 13 are available from www.sittingroomcomedy.com.
