Following the recent launch of the third Big T variety talent contest, organisers are delighted to announce that applications for the auditions are already attracting attention.

The previous two Big T’s both culminated in spectacular grand final shows at Harrogate Theatre where the soldout audiences vote lived on the night for their favourite, along with the Grand Final judges.

Two previous finalists said it was one of the best nights of their life.

Lucy Prenton and Jo Stephenson were finalists in 2012, singing and playing guitar.

They said: “The audition was made easy. The judges were really nice. We were a bit nervous at the finla but it was very exciting.”

Since then, the girls have gone from strength to strength, playing live and completing a recording session, which is on YouTube and has received several thousand hits.

Jo’s mum said: “It all started with The Big T. Anyone thinking about applying to audition must do it. The Big T lets you show everyone what you can do, and get some professional advice along the way”.

If you, or someone you know, has a talent that can entertain an audience, then either call into Harrogate Theatre’s Box Office and ask for a Big T Audition Application form, or simply download a form from

There is no upper age limit, but all participants must be over the age of 10 on March 29, 2104, the date of the grand final.

All net proceeds will go towards Harrogate Theatre’s Refurbishment fund and the bngoing restoration and refurbishment work.

The next stage of work on this beautiful Victorian theatre will focus on the backstage areas.

The Big T 2012 netted £7,000 in total, and the organisers are hoping to exceed that sum with The Big T 2014.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the final’s top three acts.

Tickets are available from Harrogate Theatre Box Office, by telephone on 01423 502 116, or securely online from
