AFTER last month’s exhilarating opening with acclaimed pianist Artur Pizarro, this year’s Harrogate International Festivals’ Sunday Series continues this weekend with a concert by the Pavão String Quartet.
One of the most exciting string quartet in the UK, this all-female ensemble will present a varied programme this Sunday at 11am including works written by Britten, Haydn and Mendelssohn.
This versatile group of talented musicians is not only highly-regarded in classical concert venues, they have also enjoyed collaborations with renowned rock, pop and jazz artists, a contemporary dance company.
They have even recorded music for the X-Factor.
Following this Sunday’s show, this series of world class chamber music in the elegant surroundings of the Old Swan Hotel continues with pianist Martin Roscoe on Sunday. February 19 with a programme of Schubert, Beethoven and Schumann.
On Sunday, March 18, clarinettist Julian Bliss will be performing.
The series will finally be brought to a triumphant close on Sunday, April 15 with one of Britain’s foremost and best-loved cellists, Paul Watkins.
