Harefield Hall at Pateley Bridge, which holds the popular roots music event Harefest, is branching out into new territory with a jazz supper starring a top outfit from Buckinghamshire.
The reason why Sparkies Jazz are bringing their wide-ranging repertoire to Harefield Hall on Saturday, May 17 is simple: the band leader Susan Rogers lives in Pateley Bridge.
The idea ofthe show isn[‘t just to offer the best of trad jazz to jazz funk in this top Dales venue, it’s also to help drum interest in jazz itself in the area.
She recently held a successful jam session at Harefield Hall and now hopes the show will tempt some local jazz musicians, as well as fans, along.
She’s also grateful her band is making the long journey north to put on this free event.
Susan said: “I’m really grateful to the Sparkies members for doing this as a favour to me. I just hope that it does create sufficient interest that other musicians come forward afterwards and we can start regular jam sessions in Pateley. You don’t need to have played jazz before, and all instruments are welcome.”
Incidentally, Sparkies are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year.
