A Harrogate eaterie’s link-up with hot music sessions promoters Ont Sofa is producing some amazing musical/gastronomical evenings of an especially intimate kind.
Next up in the Jakes Unplugged series at this café-restauarant on Oxford Street next Thursday, March 13 is a real-life Justin Timberlake protégée.
The evening with Esmee Denters, who hails from the Netherlands, combines live performance from this talented young female singer who has scored top ten hits around Europe plus support from Yorkshire-based singer-songwriters Skinny Living and Cheshire-based Fabian Belassie.
With numbers limited to 50, tickets always go fast and no wonder, Ont Sofa’s Ben Davis and Jason Odle together with Jakes’ owner Dr Suzanne Knowles have come up a brilliant concept.
Firm believers in real music and good food, the evening starts with each act singing one song in turn to the seated diners.
After supper is served, the musical stars then go up to the actual sofa to perform their sets.
Although standing only tickets are available the prized seats are, indeed, the seats.
Where else could Harrogate music fans catch Esmee, who regularly receives hits in the millions when she posts one of her songs?
The 25-year-old singer’s talent quickly attracted the interest of Justin Timberlake who signed her to his label Tennman Records at the tender age of 18.
“Her debut album Outta Here has so far spawned three singles including Admit It which reached 28 and 56 in the Netherlands and UK respectively, and Love Dealer featuring Justin Timberlake.
Naturally, Jakes’ owner Suzanne is looking forward to the night.
She said: “If it wasn’t for Ont Sofa we simply wouldn’t be betting these fabulous artists coming to Harrogate.
“Ben and Jason use the night more as a celebration of the recording work they do with artists down in London as opposed to a money-making venture.”
Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are on sale at www.jakesunplugged.bigcartel.com
