Ex-Harrogate student works with Joy Division legend

A former Harrogate Grammar School pupil has been working with former Joy Division legend Peter Hook.

Laurence Tiffany, 22, ex HGS, was the assistant engineer on recording sessions featuring the ex-New Order bass player at Calder Recordings.

Tiffany, manager of the studio, said Hook has been a “real gent” when he added his parts to tracks by French indie rock band Destijl who flew from Montpellier to record their new album in the studios at Cragg Vale near Hebden Bridge.

The studio, which was established ten years ago, has previously hosted sessions by the Happy Mondays, Rowetta, John Helliwell, among others.

Laurence, whose musical experience ranges from folk all the way to heavy metal, also recorded the latest EP by Cléa recently which has won airplay on BBC Introducing. on radio.
