An alt-rock band familiar to Harrogate audiences, particularly at Bottom of the Bottle events, is receiving rave reviews for its new single.
Day Old Hate recorded Tides at producer Dan Mizen’s Active Audio studios in Harrogate and it’s since been hailed with reviews such as “the punchy, hard hitting drums and intricacy of the guitar parts add an edge that sets this release apart” (Toxic online).
Based in the Leeds areas, this energetic five-piece are influenced by some of the expected groups - Alexisonfire, Funeral for a Friend, Mallory Kox - and a few less predictable - Jimi Hendrix and Phil Collins!
Consisting of Oliver Swift (vocals), Ben Fletcher (guitar), Will Smith (guitar), Josh Flynn (bass) and Ed Dennis (drums), the stunning video of Tides, directed by Josh Partridge (of Don Broco fame) is also deservedly making waves.
But what does the Harrogate Advertiser Series make of it? Power and grace, melody and noise, subtlety and punch with just enough little touches of imagination to prevent it becoming generic. Cracking.
