Among the star names appearing at this weekend’s spectacular Leeds Festival will be local music producer, filmmaker and DJ Rory Hoy. The youngster from Knaresborough will be performing in the 3,500-capacity Oxjam Tent tomorrow, Friday having being successful in a DJ competition.

Rory, who has Asperger syndrome, has had an amazing journey since first rising to fame three years ago after making an award-winning video for charity Resources for Autism which was broadcast round the world, including NBC in the USA.

At that point Rory, 24, was a centenary ambassador for the charity and won the backing of hip hop legends Jurassic 5, Freddy Fresh and A Tribe Called Quest.

He was quoted at saying: “The music thing only started in 2005 as a fun side-project to my film work, but in 2007 I started doing the music seriously and landed a record deal with one of my favourite producers, Freddy Fresh. I was astounded and thrilled.”

His list of recordings since then is extensive. After having three tracks featured on German dance label Big M’s Big M Presents Vol 3 that year, the talented young man then went onto release the single, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth on Skint Records’ Under Fives label, making Rory for a time a stablemate of Skint’s Fatboy Slim. The record reached number two in the Juno Broken Beat download charts.

He’s also released well received albums such as Cosmic Child and Standing on Dust and appeared on Howlin’ Records, which is run by DJ Freddy Fresh.

Tomorrow’s live show at Leeds Festival coincides with the release of his latest recordings on successful House label Tall House Digital.

Avalable on all major download sites including iTunes, Rory Hoy join forces with Stuttering Munx on cool House tune Summertime Groovez with a Breaks remix by monsieur Munx plus Rory’s Cosmic Child chillout mix.

In an exciting weekend for this ace musician, Rory will also be performing at Manchester Pride on Saturday.
