Harrogate Theatre’s Big T Variety Talent Contest is gathering momentum with each passing week.
Organisers have received a steady trickle of applications to audition but they are standing by for plenty more!
Organiser Anne Cherry said: “Now we are in 2014, it really will be all systems go. We are looking for dancers from street to ballet and everything in between, singers from pop to opera, magicians, comedians, musicians, thespians performing monologues, duologues or a group performance, jugglers and circus skills – this is variety!”
One previous finalist has spoken of how exciting the whole competition was for her.
Louise Henry sang her way into the 2012 Final. Now, almost two years later, her memory of standing before a packed auditorium at the Grand Final is still one of the most vivid and amazing memories of her life.
Louise said: “It seemed to go slowly - I loved it. The whole process from beginning to end has made me so much more confident.
“I had not done anything like it before. The speakers on the Harrogate Theatre stage allowed me to hear myself back, and once I had got used to it, I loved it. It was so cool being involved in a professional production”.
Louise, now aged 16, is urging anyone who may be deliberating whether to apply to audition to go for it.
She said: “Even if you don’t get through, the experience of the audition alone is worth it”. Louise still loves her singing, and is playing Maria in West Side Story at King James’s School, Knaresborough.
Many past finalists have gone on to do other exciting projects, having found their confidence through The Big T.
Audition dates and times will be allocated on receipt of an application form, and will be held during the first two weekends of March, at The Cairn Hotel in Harrogate.
The Grand Final is on Saturday, March 29 at Harrogate Theatre, where the entire audience and the Grand Final judges, including Harrogate panto legend Tim Stedman, will vote live to find The Big T 2014. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three acts on the night.
Application forms are available from Harrogate Theatre Box Office and on download at www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk
