EXCITEMENT is building as the days tick away to The Big T auditions.
There’s less than three weeks before initial judging starts in The Cairn Hotel, Harrogate, spread over two consecutive weekends during February.
Organisers said: “Harrogate and District has a staggering array of talent. We could have staged two full shows last time. The judges had their work cut out at the auditions to whittle them down to 12 acts”.
A recent application came from Mike Barfield, whose act is comedy and music.
Mike writes all his own material, not only for himself, but for others, too, and he’s also been Poet in Residence at Ripon international Festival.
He admires anyone who can entertain an audience, and hopes to be able to do just that on the stage of Harrogate Theatre at the Grand Final.
Mike said: “I’m 50 this year. Let’s go for it!”.
In total contrast, The Big T will also be auditioning 15-year-old Kitty West. Kitty just loves singing, and has developed a passion for musical theatre.
Her ambition for the future is to sing in the West End.
She said: “I’m having singing lessons, which I really enjoy. I’m a bit nervous about my audition, but I know it will be good experience for me. I’ve never been on a big stage, but I’ve been in school productions, where I have sung solo”.
The Big T team are anxious to convey this simple message – if you plan to register to audition, then now is the time to do so
Who knows, perhaps The Big T 2012 will discover a star, join in the fun of the interactive Grand Final on March 3rd, where the entire audience, along with celebrity judges, will vote live on the night for their favourite act, with £500 prize money.
