A trip to the winner’s enclosure for best dressed

Ripon Racecourse has crowned its “Best Dressed Lady” after the annual Ladies Day meeting.

Rachael Kerr from Redcar took the prize with a dress made by her mother Pauline and matching hat made be her sister, Lynne Young of Chic Hats.

Rachael, 35, caught the eye of the judges in a stunning 1950s cream dress with roses and a turquoise hat made from the same fabric, worn with matching turquoise shoes.

Rachael said: “I made a really special effort with my outfit. Ladies Days are one of the few opportunities where we ladies can really dress up and I wanted to do it justice.”

“The weather was awful but we didn’t let it spoil our day out. The atmosphere was fantastic and there were some stunning outfits in evidence. I was amazed when I was chosen as the best dressed lady.”

Rachael will represent Ripon in the Grand Finale of “Best Dressed Lady Racegoer in Yorkshire”, which takes place at Doncaster on September 13.
