Walker quickest Ripon Runner at Kilburn Kanter as Smith finds form

Paul Walker was the fastest Ripon Runner at Saturday’s Kilburn Kanter but he narrowly missed out on the four hour barrier.

Walker finished the 24-mile route in four hours five minutes, two minutes ahead of clubmate Martin Gabriel.

Tim Joynson (4:32), Matthew Holt (4:39) and husband and wife team Jo and Iain Wallace (5:02) also competed.

Ripon had two top 100 finishers at the Guy Fawkes 10 mile road race through Ripley on Sunday with James Boddy 85th in 1:10:50 and Tori Green 92nd in 1:11:14.

Steve Smith (1:12:46) won his over 60 category as did Donna Riddler (1:13:01) in her over 35 age group.

Andrew Turner finished in 1:15:39. Emma Robinson’s 1:17:24 aided Green and Riddler to second placed female team.

Trish Garbutt and husband John were among over 1200 runners at the Scarborough 10k. Trish recorded her season best in 1:25:57.

Bill Foreman was second for his age at the Lancashire Half Marathon in one hour 25 minutes, with Simon Merrin six minutes down the road.

Smith continued his form, winning his age category in the last two Esk Valley Winter Series races.

He won at Saltergate (1:36) and the Guisborough Three Tops (1:23).
