A RECORD turn-out of 48 members of St George’s Archery Club took part in the club’s 6th annual Hallowe’en “Spook Shoot” which was held last Sunday on their ground at St John Fisher School in Harrogate.

The round was four dozen arrows shot at specially designed Hallowe’en themed target faces and scoring was exceptional with three new club records being set.

The senior section winner, Jon Overfield, beat the existing club record by a remarkable 399 points with the second and third placed archers, Charles Rawson and Paul Henty, both also scoring higher than the previous record.

The senior novice winner was Jeanette Ives, with Nick Greenwood narrowly outscoring Hayley Kemp for second place.

Matt Stanley won the junior competition and his score of 366 beat the existing club record which was set by his brother Chris back in 2009. The scoring in this section was particularly close with second and third going to Tom Ketley and Tom Woolley who narrowly outscored Harry Street, Sam Moore and Sabryna Scornaienchi.

The junior novice winner was Jacob Greenwood with Ben Daniel second and Lewis Francis third.

All prizewinners were presented with chocolate ghosts from Bettys.
