Ripon’s international diver Jack Laugher had his place at the London 2012 Olympic Games confirmed on Monday.
The 17-year-old Ripon Grammar School student tweeted the news as soon as he heard, calling it ‘the best day of my life.’
Laugher underlined the reasons for his selection at the British Diving Championships last week, winning the 3m springboard event.
A member of the City of Leeds club, Laugher competes in both the 3m and 1m springboard.
Twelve divers were named in the Great Britain squad, including several from the City of Leeds Club.
Two years ago Laugher was the first British diver to hold both the Junior World and European Championship titles.
Laugher is currently studying Maths, Chemistry, Physics and PE at AS level.
