A contingent of Harrogate and District Swim Club headed to the British Gas National Youth Swimming Championships for competitors aged 15-19.
To round off a tremendous year, 16-year-old Matthew Rudolph fought his way through to the final of the 200m backstroke.
He finished seventh overall and on the way through the heats and semi-finals set a personal best time of 2.08.71.
In the 100m backstroke Rudolph narrowly missed the final coming 12th.
However, he again set a personal best time of 1.00.20.
Lucy Budimir, 18, competed in the 200m individual medley and reached the semi-finals in both the 100m and 200m breast stroke events.
Lauryn Deane, 16, completed a highly successful season in the 50m and 100m freestyle events plus the 100m butterfly.
The 15-18 yrs men’s freestyle team of Rudolph, Charles Lonsbrough, Steven Moore and Nathan Hale qualified for both the 4x100m & 200m events.
T 4x100m medley team of Rudolph, James Thompson, Hale and Moore performed creditably with Rudolph going under the magical minute barrier for the first time on the backstroke leg.
The current strength in depth at the Harrogate club, particularly amongst the boys aged 15-17, augers well for the future.
Coach Ian Spencer is looking to increase the number of national qualifiers for the 2012/13 season.
