Dozens show speed at Muddy Boots race as Runners flourish

More than 40 Ripon Runners kicked off the first of many 10k distance races of 2014 at the Muddy Boots 10k on Sunday.

Six prizes were up for grabs at the sold out Ripon run. Of the 433 finishers, Ripon claimed five finishers in the top 15.

Michael Elgie was the first Runner to cross the line in 39 minutes 27 seconds and seventh overall.

Ripon Runners’ Junior section showed the talent in its ranks as Reece Dalton (40.16) sprinted around the course in eighth overall to claim the U21 category.

Sharon Barlow-Hamilton also earned glory as she finished as the fastest woman in 43.05.

Anthony Jefford (ninth in 41.07) and Alex Fawcett (12th in 42.01) also clinched spots inside the top 15.

Barlow-Hamilton’s win helped the ladies claim the team prize alongside Tori Green (46.26) and Donna Riddler.

Earlier in the fun run Chloe Dalton, another junior member, was the first girl across the line.
