Town begin search for promising players to join U-17s Academy side

Harrogate Town will field an U-17s Academy squad for the 2012-13 season, which will play in the Leeds and District U-17s League.

The squad will be made up of U-17s and some promising U-16s players , based on development and is part of Harrogate Town’s on-going commitment to developing young footballers within the area.

Head coach is Mike Bligh, who has worked with Middlesbrough for the past five years, assisted by Clive Murgatroyd.

Clive has worked with Bradford City for several years.

Also joining the coaching set-up is Garry Plant, head of youth development and welfare officer at Harrogate Town.

Town are aiming to run the U-17s Academy as a professional centre of excellence.

They intend to use the same training methods, tactical sessions, dietary plans and fitness core work that seen at top level around the country.

Mike added: “We also have excellent access to top local physios in times of injury.

“Harrogate Town U-17s Academy will provide players with a stepping stone into the B Tech U-18’, U-19s Academy and first team arenas if the players are good enough.

“We are currently looking for several players to join the squad for the forth coming season and are encouraging applicants to come forward.”

Trial dates for the U-17s are set for Friday June 29th & Saturday June 30.
