Harrogate Railway are preparing for a vital festive Evo-Stik First Division north double-header.

Railway host Bamber Bridge this Saturday, before travelling to Goole AFC on Boxing Day (3pm kick-offs).

Railway beat Bamber Bridge 2-1 in the FA Trophy earlier this season, but boss Billy Miller is expecting a tough tie.

He said: “It is a big game for us, and we will give them the credit they deserve.

“We have got to go into the game believing we can get something out of the game, but we need to understand they will be thinking exactly the same thing about us.”

Bamber sit one place and point above Rail in 16th.

Strugglers Goole have just seven points from 20 matches, but drew with mid-table Burscough on Saturday.

Miller is not underestimating their capabilities.

He said: “If we don’t get it right on the day, they can take points off us.

“However, we want at least four points from these matches, that is realistic if we give a good account of ourselves.”

Meantime, Miller is working to sign a Harrogate bartender named Jesus.

The player will sign for Railway if he can get Saturday afternoons off work to play.

The club is also closing in on the signature of Josh Windass, the promising son of former Hull City and Aberdeen player Dean.
