Harrogate Town can secure their highest ever finish with a victory on Saturday

A victory would mean Town finish in fourth place in National League North and earn a place in the end of season promotion play-offs.

Corby Town will finish bottom of the league and have only won three matches away from home this season.

Nuneaton Town's win over Bradford Park Avenue on Wednesday night ensured the play-off race went down to the final game of the season.

Up to 1,000 people are expected to head to the CNG Stadium on Wetherby Road for Saturday's finale and manager Simon Weaver issued a rallying call in the Harrogate Advertiser.

“Please get behind us for one final time in the league on Saturday,” the manager said.

“We are going to give it everything in our powers to extend the season and be in those play-offs.

“We have been in the play-off positions all season, the disappointment levels of not being in it at the end don’t even bare thinking about.

“It’s our time to repay the faith that the fans have had in us all season. They have been our 12th man home and away.

“Please get behind us for one final time in the league on Saturday.

“We are so keen to do well - for the supporters as much as anything.

Corby, managed by former Town striker Tommy Wright, have been the worst team in the National League North this season and only won seven of 41 matches – including just three on the road.

“There’s some good players in their team that we have to be aware of,” added Weaver.

“We can’t take anything for granted especially as we have had some tough games against the bottom teams this season.”

Town play in the sixth tier of English football but a run of victories over the next two weeks would secure a rise into the highest level of non league football.

A promotion would see the Wetherby Road club join York City in the National League after the Minstermen had their relegation from the Football League confirmed last weekend.

The club, who are owned by manager Simon's father Irving Weaver, could also turn professional if they secure promotion.

Two new stands have been erected at the Wetherby Road ground in the last two years to make the stadium up to standard for a jump into the National League.
