Josh Greening fired two hat-tricks in a week to demonstrate Tadcaster Albion’s strike-power.

Greening banged three goals home at fancied South Yorkshire side Handsworth Parramore on Saturday before repeating the trick in Tuesday night’s 5-1 thrashing of Retford United.

Albion sent a statement to their NCEL Premier rivals on Saturday by putting Parramore to the sword with Greening’s three-goal second-half salvo.

The former Pickering forward, who is the brother of ex-Premier League star Jonathan, scored three in the last 20 minutes, before scoring three in 16 first-half minutes against Retford.

“That’s why we brought him to the club, that’s what we were hoping when we signed him,” said manager Paul Marshall.

“We thought he would just give us that bit extra when needed.

“By his own admission he didn’t have the best game on Saturday, but he ended up with three goals.”

Without main-man Carl Stewart, Greening has taken Tadcaster up to fifth in the Premier.

And Marshall will be hoping for more goals from his new star when Maltby Main head to the i2i Stadium on Saturday, and at Thackley on Tuesday night.

“Playing Tuesday, Saturday is good for us at the moment,” he added.

“I would rather get the games in now while the pitches are still decent so we can get the ball down and play.”
