Day of fun for Thirsk Falcon footballers

More than 120 children took part in Thirsk Falcons Junior Football Club’s annual fun day.

The rain stayed away, allowing the children to take part in a variety of activities, including the Falcs’ own Euro Championships which England won in several age groups without having to go to penalties.

Middlesbrough FC’s Fitness Bus was on site, thanks to support from North Yorkshire County Council, and the children enjoyed using the speed cage to find out how fast they could kick a football.

The youngest children taking part were three years old, and part of the Falcons Fledglings group which promotes enjoyment of football and a healthy lifestyle to those between the ages of three and six. Club Chairman Vaughan Lonsdale said “It was a fantastic day, the sun was out and the fields were full. All in all a successful event and maybe our best yet, thanks to the efforts of the organising team led by Debbie Ingoldsby.”
