They were held to a 1-1 draw on Saturday, but Tadcaster Albion prevailed 3-2 at Consett after extra time in Tuesday night’s FA Cup replay.

Two goals by set piece specialist Steve Jeff and one for striker Robert Pell secured the extra preliminary qualifying round victory, and propelled Taddy into the preliminary round.

It’s the third goal in a week for Jeff, who put Albion ahead in the 11th minute on Saturday.

Tadcaster get back to the NCEL Premier this Saturday, travelling to Brighouse Town (3pm).

The football season kicks off in earnest this weekend, Harrogate Town opening their Blue Square North campaign away at Hinckley United.

Harrogate Railway are hoping to make a good start in the UniBond First Division North, at home to New Mills (3pm).

The West Yorkshire League also gets under way, with Boroughbridge, Bardsey, Ripon City and Wetherby Athletic all targeting good starts in the Premier Division.
