Letter: Health - Good news about defibrillators

I would like to share some really good news with you, and both myself and the ‘Ripon Lions’ would much appreciate it if you could advertise this in the Gazette.

The Ripon Lions and the ‘Defibrillators for Ripon’ group work together to raise funds which in turn enables us to purchase Community Public Access Defibrillator units. These are then being installed by us in various locations around our wonderful city. The main purpose being, that every member of the public, whether they live here or just visiting, will have a second chance at life should the situation ever arise.

We installed our first CPAD unit in March of this year, at Ripon RUFC, and the ceremony was attended by the Lady Mayor, and the defib unit was handed over on our behalf by Mrs Annette Kite.

The second one was handed over in the beginning of May by Mrs Eileen Jordan to the Unicorn Hotel (Ripon). Mrs Jordan raised the necessary funds to purchase this unit on her own, as a gift to the city from herself.

Our next unit is being installed on Wednesday, June 15, and will be handed over by Mr Eric Clark, President of Ripon Lions. The ceremony will be at the Ripon Bowling club on the Boroughbridge Road.
