Through the pages of the Gazette, I would like to take the opportunity of thanking Keith Riley for doing such a first class job on renovating the benches of Jack and Evelyn Baily.
These are located by the cathedral outside the old tourist office and set a high standard that the rest of the benches in the city should be brought up to.
These benches were purchased many years ago to commemorate the former chairman of the Ripon and District Branch REA, plus he was also Mayor of Ripon whereas Evelyn did a considerable amount of charity work in and around Ripon herself.
Thanks also to Nigel Baldwin for the photo and to the local wax works for the loan of the two models of Kenn Hart and Mal Forder of the REA.
