Spring finally announced itself across Yorkshire and the north with two days of stunning sunshine on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures exceeding 24C in our county.

However, we have been told to expect cooler temperatures as the week continues, with a relatively chilly 12C high forecast for Bridlington and Whitby on Tuesday.

The Met Office is also predicting rain, which could become heavy in places. However, Yorkshire should avoid the downpours predicted for the midlands.

Expect highs today (Tuesday) of 17C in Halifax and Knaresborough, 15C in Driffield and 16C in Pontefract.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Most places will be warm and dry, but generally cloudier than Monday.

"Expect a few showers at times, these mainly across the south and occasionally heavy."
