Met Office issues another weather warning for Harrogate district with three days of heavy rainfall predicted this week

Further weather warnings have been issued for Harrogate district with the Met Office issuing an alert for heavy rain on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

After a week when the region was hit with heavy snow blizzards, there are now concerns regarding the amount of rain that is due to arrive this week.

The official warning for Harrogate is 'Yellow', the lowest ranked on the Met Office scale, however a more serious 'Amber Warning' which highlights a 'danger to life' has also been issued for the North Leeds, Wetherby and Tadcaster area which could affect the district bringing in the worst of the conditions.

Heavy rain is expected to start at 6am on Tuesday and continue on and off right through to midday on Thursday, with the more serious conditions expected between Tuesday morning and Wednesday night. Ripon and the Nidderdale area of the district have been issued with the Yellow Warning.

The Met Office warning states: "Spells of prolonged and heavy rain may lead to flooding and disruption to travel in places. Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings. Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life."
