UPDATE: Man in 'serious' condition after three vehicle collision near Harrogate

A young man has been left in 'serious' condition in hospital after the car he was driving collided with two motorhomes in Scotton on Sun March 20.

The collision involving a blue Daewoo Matiz, a grey Fiat Ducato motor home towing a silver Ford KA and a Fiat Ducato Bessacar motorhome happened on the juction where Ripley Road meets Havikil Lane at about 12.30pm.

The driver of the Matiz a 22-year-old man from Ripon is now described as being in 'serious but stable' condition after he was airlifted from the scene to Leeds General Infirmary (LGI).

His passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Knaresborough was also taken to LGI by road ambulance but was released after treatment.

Both the young man and woman had to be cut free from the car by fire crews at the scene but fortunately the occupants of both motorhomes were uninjured.

Now police have described the incident as it is believed to have happened and are appealing for anyone who might be able to offer more information.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The Daewoo and one of the motorhomes, which was towing a silver Ford KA, collided while they were on Ripley Road, which led the Daewoo to collide with a second motorhome waiting at the junction. "Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles prior to the crash is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Traffic Constable Rob Roberts or [email protected]"

Both roads were closed while fire crews attended to the vehicles at the scene and were fully re-opened to traffic at 4.20pm.
