They've just won Best Village Award in prestigious Great British High Street competition today, Monday at a glittering event at Lancaster House in London!

The judges referred to not only great community support and marketing by Pateley Bridge High Street but also to the fact it had bounced back from empty units and the loss of its bank to create a vibrant and successful high street.

Pateley, which as represented at the London awards by Nidderdale Chamber of Trade's Keith Tordoff and Kirsty Shepherd, also received the bronze medal in the Best Social Media category.

Pateley Bridge saw off competition in the final from two rivals - Kirkby Lonsdale on the edge of the Lake District and the ancient market town of Langport in Somerset.

The public vote online had showed Pateley consistently in the lead with supprt world-wide.

Also crucial in this Dales town's triumph were the judges who had been treated to a fun-packed picturesque tour of Pateley Bridge last month and were clearly very impressed.
