A motorist in his 60s has died after the car he was driving on the A168 near Dishforth collided with a parked-up lorry.
The crash happened on the northbound carriageway between Dishforth and Thirsk when the dark blue Mercedes A-class car hit the green and white coloured lorry, which was parked in the lay-by near the Asenby turn-off, yesterday (Sunday, December 7), at around 10.30am.
The driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene and police are trying to trace his next of kin.
The lorry driver, a man aged in his 30s, was uninjured.
Both lanes of the north-bound carriageway of the A168 were closed while police investigated the collision scene and to allow the vehicles to be recovered.
