Commuters faced queues and delays on the A59 this morning due to a burst water main.
Temporary traffic lights have been set up on York Road near the Red Lane junction in Kirk Hammerton.
Yorkshire Water has apologised for the delays while work is carried out to fix the problem.
A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “We received reports of a loss of water supply in the Kirk Hammerton area in the early hours of this morning and discovered this was being caused by a burst to a water main in the area.
“Water supply should now be restored but we have put two-way traffic lights in place to allow us to repair the pipe affected. We’d like to apologise to commuters affected by this work and ask them to bear with us while it is completed.”
