Based on Cheltenham Mount, RedHouse Originals is presenting The Coral: Distance Inbetween which will exclusively document the music, artwork and stories behind the critically-acclaimed recent album by this leading Liverpool group.RedHouse Original’s Richard McTague said: “This is the first exhibition The Coral have ever done, so is something that neither of us have tried before, which makes it really exciting.“The process of collaborating and collecting work for the show has been fascinating. Making the connections between tracks from the album and their inspirations, and seeing it all come together as a visual document of a moment in time has been a great experience.”The Coral first rose to fame with their Mercury Prize-nominated debut album in 2002 with its memorable psychedelic collage designed by Ian Skelly, who is also the band’s drummer. So impressed were The Coral by this small gallery, the band will take time off their current UK tour of 02 Academy-sized venues to play an invite-only acoustic performance at RedHouse tonight, Wednesday, December 7Richard McTague said: “Ian Skelly is brilliant to work with. He was open to sharing his ideas and artwork, and the stories that inform much of their sound and identity. The whole band have been really supportive.”The exhibition opens to the public from Thursday, December 8 and will continue until December 17. Such is the demand for the acoustic night, a competition has been set to win tickets via the band’s website at www.thecoral.co.uk
