Sally McLean will be leading The White Rosettes, a Leeds-based ladies barbershop chorus, in the climax of a competition which will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and filmed by BBC4 TV.

Taking place at Cardiff Millennium Centre, Sally is no stranger to the limelight having been a judge on recent TV show The Naked Choir starring Gareth Malone.

A full-time vocal coach, Sally has taken the White Rosettes to the final before. This time she is aiming to win.

She said: “It’s very exciting. “We are the only barbershop group in the final.

“It’s not a competition for us really, it’s mainly choral societies and they usually have some accompaniment.”

With 75 members, the White Rosettes have a huge reputation at home and abroad.

They’re 15 times national champions and twice European winners.

But Sally says they are always open to new members.

She said: “ Our reheaarals on Wednesdays are hi-octane affairs. We’re looking for bass singers, in particular, just now.”
