An athlete currently running the road to recovery will be wearing the number 1 shirt at the North Stainley Stags Charity Challenge race.
Sophie Atkinson, whose family home is in Studley Roger, will be leading the pack during the charity event on Sunday, November 20.
Taking part in her second challenge has been something of a challenge in itself for Sophie who is recovering from the debilitating illness Lyme Disease. She has spent all year training in the Yorkshire Dales to be ready for the undulating and varied course around Lightwater Valley and its surrounding countryside.
The charity challenge is in aid of Help for Heroes and North Stainley Primary School.
There are three runs catering for all abilities starting with the 3k at 10am.
The main 10k starts at 11am with a field race for the under nines starting at 11.15am.
There is still time to enter the challenge. Fees for the 10k are £8 for club runners and £10 for non club runners. All runners in the 10k must be over 15-years-old.
