Search for Jubilee Award star

The hunt is on for this year's Jubilee Award winner.

Wetherby Town Council’s competition recognises the achievements of outstanding young people in the area, who are under 20 years of age and who have made an impact, whether nationally, regionally or locally.

The award was established in 2012 for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and can be awarded jointly to a maximum of three special young persons.

“There are many young people of whom Wetherby can rightly be proud and it is these young people that we wish to recognise and hope will be nominated,” said Town Clerk Iona Taylor.

“We would expect the young people to perhaps show some of the following qualities - bravery and fortitude, work in the community/home, adapting to changes in lifestyle, academic or sporting achievements, charitable accomplishments, kindness beyond the call of duty and ambition to achieve.”

Nomination forms are available from the Town Council’s offices in Wetherby Town Hall, or by e-mailing [email protected] and should be submitted by November 30.

Judges include Mayor of Wetherby Coun Norma Harrington and Townsperson of the Year Dean Buckle. The award ceremony will be held on Wednesday December 21.
