Saying farewell to popular priest

AROUND 200 parishioners turned out last Friday to celebrate Father Paul Moxon's 15 years spiritual leadership in St Joseph's Catholic Church in Wetherby.

Father Paul is moving on to become the incumbent parish priest at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Church in the city of Ripon.

Father Paul has served his friendly flock in Wetherby with religious distinction, love, humour and spiritual guidance.

Many entertainers in the parish made musical contributions and a cheque was presented to Father Paul by Alan Dinsdale. He thanked Father Paul for his warm, humorous and Christian approach during his years of leadership.

Father Paul accepted his gift graciously. He went on to say his time at St Josephs had been a truly worthwhile experience. He said he hoped his spiritual and friendly guidance had been of some real help to his friends, the parishioners. He concluded by saying his time at St Josephs had been extremely happy ones.

A celebration cake, and scrumptious feast made this get together a real festival occasion and everyone wished Father Paul much happiness and spiritual contentment at St Wilfrids.

Father John Nunan, the new parish priest now at St Josephs, joined in the celebrations.
