A Ripon city centre bus service has been introduced on a trial basis, following the death of Shaun McGowan, of Shaun's Minibuses and Coach Hire.
Tributes continue to be made to Mr McGowan, who held over 30 contracts with North Yorkshire County Council, including two local bus services and school transport.
Connexionsbuses took on the city centre services on Friday, September, 8, which are operating Monday to Friday, until 3:30pm each day.
A statement from Connexionsbuses said: "After Shaun's Minibuses ceased trading suddenly, we have decided to operate the town services on a trial basis. This is Monday to Friday only and between schools. Please help to spread the word as this will guarantee the future of it."
Ripon city councillor Peter Horton said making these services permanent beyond a trial basis could be an "ideal solution" for Ripon.
At a city council meeting tonight, September 11, Coun Horton will also propose that a privately funded bus service similar to The Little White Bus in the Upper Dales is looked into.
Coun Horton said: "My feeling is that we should put in place the possibility of taking on a service like they have in the Upper Dales. We have an offer from the managing director to come and talk about setting it up
"I suggest that we still go ahead to look into that so that it can be set up if we need it, but hopefully they are prepared to make it permanent."
