SENIOR Citizens from around the local area were welcome visitors to RAF Leeming this week when they attended the Stations annual Senior Citizens Christmas party.
Every December, RAF Leeming’s Catering Flight hosts a Christmas party for personnel from the surrounding villages and this year over 80 guests were invited to the Officer’s Mess where they were welcomed by the Station Commander, Group Captain Tony Innes.
All of the guests were entertained by children from RAF Leeming Primary School who sang carols and this was followed by games and a raffle whilst officers and airmen from RAF Leeming served drinks.
Group Captain Innes said: “I was delighted that Royal Air Force Leeming was able to host so many senior citizens from the local area for lunch in the Officers’ Mess.
“I am very grateful to the local community for their continued support to the Station and, as such, the provision of a Christmas Dinner in the Mess is a small way of us saying thank you to them.”
Flight Lieutenant Dave Rice, the Officer Commanding Catering Flight at RAF Leeming who organised the event in conjunction with Leeming, Londonderry & Gatenby Parish Councils said: “The lunch was a great success with great food and entertainment which was enjoyed by all.
“This was achieved through the hard work of the staff and volunteers on the day and I would personally like to thank all involved”
