Prince Charles paid a visit to Boroughbridge and rain held off just long enough for town and regiment to welcome their royal guest.
The Prince of Wales joined 200 soldiers and hundreds of well-wishers to celebrate the freedom parade on Friday, May 13.
Troops from 9 Regiment Army Air Corps, based at Dishforth, marched through the town to celebrate the regiment’s safe return from Afghanistan.
Crowds lined the route of the march from Boroughbridge Hall to St James Square, which was led by the band of the army air corps, before a fly past by three Lynx helicopters and a “walkabout” by the Prince.
The regiment was awarded the freedom of Boroughbridge around 19 years ago, in recognition of their close ties with the town.
