Graham Laybourn, or the ‘Barber in the Van,’ as he is becoming known, has launched a mobile hairdressing business with a twist, and is passionate about reaching out to residents who may otherwise struggle to access appointments in the centre.

Graham said: “I think when most people think of a guy cutting hair in a van, they think of a sketch from Only Fools and Horses maybe. But we really have gone all-out with the design. We’ve made sure everything is of the highest standard.

“Our barber van bridges the gap between wanting a haircut now, and turning it into the reality of it. We’ve all sat there maybe one or two weeks overdue, and your partner has said, ‘when are you going to sort that mess out?’

Graham Laybourn, or the Barber in the Van, as he is becoming known, has launched a mobile hairdressing business with a twist, and is passionate about reaching out to residents who may otherwise struggle to access appointments in the centre.

“Well now, as if like magic, you can book us to come to your house and make you feel fantastic without you having to leave the house and face waiting in a busy barbers and paying for parking.”

Graham has fitted out the van with USB ports, LED spotlights and touch sensitive lamps above its work station. He said it’s all about the mod-cons and experience for customers, as well as providing a traditional service with a modern twist.

Graham said: “Everyone likes to feel special - we are getting rid of the dull moments sat waiting in line at the barbers. We turn up at a time and day that suits you, and the van is exclusively yours.

“We can play all your favourite songs and even remember them on a playlist for next time. We are changing not only the way people feel about their appearance, but about how they feel about going to the barbers. Convenience is king, offering cuts at times and days that people actually want and need.

“Mobile hairdressing is nothing new, but the way in which we are providing this is a new concept. This catapults our business into the future, in what we believe will become the norm for many busy individuals and families who simply struggle with getting into town.”

Barber in the Van is also based on Ripon Market Square on Thursdays and Saturdays, and in Ripon Booths car park on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
