Pub to open in Boston Spa’s Crown Hotel
Ward councillor Alan Lamb said that it was a good for the village that owners Further Afield Pubs were reopening The Crown Hotel on the High Street, ending long running issues over the future of the building.
“It is fantastic news for Boston Spa because it has been ongoing planning sagas and appeals and attempts to turn it into a supermarket so the fact that it is going to reopen for the proper purpose as a pub is brilliant.

Further Afield Pubs Ltd, announced this week that it would be opening the pub soon and encouraged people to sign up for newsletters and updates.
A planning application was put into Leeds City Council in late 2017 to convert the pub into a branch of the Co-op.
However, Leeds City Council refused the plans on the grounds of lack of space for deliveries and customer parking in February 2018.

Hide AdLeeds City Council officials met to rule on whether applicant Further Afield Pubs Ltd can operate the site as a pub once again in August 2020 but the panel did not publicly reveal what was agreed at the end of the meeting.
Although no residents were at the meeting to object, numerous letters had expressed concerns around the lateness of the licence and potential for public nuisance, littering and noise.
The council’s licensing sub-committee met for more than two hours with around half being held in private.
Coun Lamb added: “It has had to go through a whole variety of processes, as you would expect after something has been closed for a while.

“It is just great to see the work happening.
“It has been sat as an empty building which is no good to anybody. It attracts anti-social behaviour and it has had an uncertain future.
“Boston Spa’s High Street is increasingly vibrant and I think this will be another good addition to it.”
