Don't miss this highlight of Ripon's Christmas calendar

It has quickly become established as a firm favourite of Ripon’s Christmas events calendar - a breathtaking carol concert with a choir of more than 200 schoolchildren taking part will once again be held at Holy Trinity Church on December 2, starting at 1.30pm.

Organised by city resident Andrew Roberts, the primary schools taking part will include Bishop Monkton, Burton Leonard, Fountains, Grewelthorpe, Kirkby Malzeard, Markington, North Stainley, and Sharow.

This year’s concert will see the 20th anniversary of Only a Babe, a song written by Andrew, and Rachel Brookes. Andrew said: “It’s such a magical and moving carol which the children really enjoy singing. I’ve added signing to the chorus, and the children have been so enthusiastic in learning the carol off by heart. It’s an absolute privilege and great honour to work with

such amazing children and their teachers.

“The concentration and determination to learn new songs is wonderful.” Traditional carols will be mixed in with some well-known Christmas songs and a few surprises along

the way."

Helen Johnson of Prima Musica is accompanying all of the singing this year, and The Mukherjee Trust has generously sponsored the event.
