The money will be used to build a new Junior Play Area at Stables Lane Community Park in the centre of Boston Spa.

Kevin Alderson, Chairman of the Friends of Stables Lane Working Group and a local parish councillor, believes the facility will make a huge difference to the lives of people living in the area.

“This project will provide a real boost to the people of Boston Spa,” he said.

“It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our new play area taking shape over the next few months.”

Cheryl Raynor, Grant Manager at FCC Communities Foundation said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Parish Council to further enhance this well used park.

“It is a fantastic facility for local people which was well demonstrated by the Friends of Group. We look forward to work starting shortly.”

Coun Alderson hopes the Play Area will be ready to use by the autumn of 2021.

The new facilities are designed to complement the existing toddler play area and significantly enhance the local community’s enjoyment of the Park.

The project will fill a current gap in play provision for the 6 to 11 year old age group.

Coun Alderson added: “It will be welcomed by parents and grandparents as a great facility for their kids to enjoy.”
