Dance: Pateley Bridge Dance Club will be holding a dance at in aid of lifeboats on Friday July 4 at Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall, 8pm-12. Dancing to Mark Kitto Please bring your own drink. Entry £6 including supper. All welcome.

The dance on Saturday June 21 raised 405 for the Royal British Legion. The club wishes to thank everyone who supported or helped at the event with special thanks to Marleen and Alan Peel from Milltones who provided the music and gave their services free of charge.

Treasure Hunt: Pateley Bridge Cricket Club is holding a Walking Treasure Hunt tonight, Friday June 27. Meet at the car park near the cricket field at 6.30pm. Entrance fee 5 per family or 1 per person. Afterwards, why not join in the music quiz at the Royal Oak, from 9pm onwards - courtesy of Judy and Jacko, with the quiz being compiled by Gill Heard.

Cricket Matches: The Nidderdale Motors matches have now been finalised as follows: July 13 Glasshouses v Birstwith; July 20 Pateley Bridge v Kirkby Malzeard. Matches start at 2pm and are for a duration of 40 overs.

Rambler Bus: The AS Coaches Rambler Bus Service is now running every Sunday from Pateley Bridge to Lofthouse and Brimham Rocks via Fellbeck. Local usage would be a real bonus, the bus service is ideal for walking (dogs are allowed) and/or lunch out. Glasshouses Post Office: Glasshouses is currently open at Broadbelt Hall every Tuesday, 9.30am-1pm.

Cake Stall: Glasshouses cricket club are having a cake stall on Pateley Bridge High Street tomorrow, Saturday June 28 from 9am. All enquiries to Eileen Sunderland on 01423 712401.

Bandstand: This Sunday June 29 the Stray Brass Quintet will be giving a concert between 3-5pm at the Joe Longster Bandstand in Pateley Bridge recreation ground.

The bandstand has been repainted in preparation next weekend’s rededication celebrations marking the tenth anniversary of the building of the bandstand. On Sunday July 6 between 2.30-4pm, as part of the Nidderdale Festival, there will be a celebration of 10 years of entertainment including music by the two original bands who played at the inauguration, the Summerbridge and Dacre Silver Band and the Lofthouse Brass Band. All are welcome and the event is free.

Horse Show: There will be a Horse Show and car boot sale at The Agricultural Ground, Pateley Bridge on Sunday July 7. It’s a charity event to raise funds for Nidderdale High School. Check out for more info.

Writers’ Group: The Nidderdale Writers’ Group is an informal small group of people interested in creative writing in all forms and genres. They plan what to do each week with ideas contributed from members, eg writing exercises, readings from members current work, general discussions on various aspects of writing.

They meet at 1-3pm on most Wednesday afternoons in Pateley Bridge. There is a very small annual fee to join. If you are interested or require more information contact Lesley Pemberton 01423 712063.

Church Services: This Sunday June 29 there will be the following church services to which all are very welcome: St Cuthbert’s Church Family Eucharist at 10.30am. St Michael’s Church, Wilsill Holy Communion at 9am. Pateley Bridge Methodist Church Holy Communion with the Rev Nigel Waterfield at 10.30am. Glasshouses Methodist Church Miss Olive Moyses at 10.30am. Wilsill Methodist Church The Rev Greg Warren at 11am. At the Roman Catholic churches Sunday Mass will take place at 10.30am at Pateley and at 9.15am at Menwith Hill.

Parent and Toddler: Glasshouses Parent and Toddler group meets every week during term time at Glasshouses Primary School, starting from 1.45-3.15pm. 1 per parent. Come and join us for lots of fun!

FrogHoppers: FrogHoppers Pre-School Playgroup (which is situated behind St Cuthberts Primary School) has sessions available for pre-school children age 2 years and over. FrogHoppers runs only Monday to Friday 9am to 12.15pm at 7 per session. There is also an optional lunch club 12.15-1pm at 1. Most 3 and 4 year olds will be eligible for funding - so its free! Froghoppers offers fantastic indoor and outdoor play facilities and has an excellent Ofsted Report. Nidderdale Iron, A Forgotten Industry: Thursday July 17. An illustrated evening talk by members of the Iron-Age (Nidderdale) Project on the story of this local industry and the discovery of its archaeology - including rare Iron Age evidence and medieval remains. Glasshouses WI: At the next meeting on July 9, Chris Abbot will present a talk with slides on New Zealand. The competition will be A Holiday Photo. On Wednesday August 13 we have our summer outing. This year we are going to Hutton-le-hole and Whitby. The coach will leave Pateley Bridge at 9am and leave Whitby at 6.15pm. The cost will be approximately 12.50. Non members are welcome, so if you would like to go please ring Mary Partridge on 712396.

Wath Chapel Garden Party: Everyone is welcome at a garden party on Sunday June 29 to raise funds for Wath Chapel. The event starts at 2.30pm at Woodman’s Cottage, Wath (opposite the chapel). Admission 2.50 which includes light refreshments. Stalls include cakes, bric-a-brac, plants, books and tombola. Listen to Alan’s accordion music. Craft Fair: There will be an arts and crafts fair at the Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall this weekend, Saturday and Sunday June 28 and 29, open 10am-4.30pm.
