Pateley in 1st place in final week of Great British High Street contest

Excitement is building with the great news that Pateley Bridge is stll in the lead in the Great British High Street competition with only a week to go.

But the town’s hard-working Nidderdale Chamber of Trade are urging everyone to keep on voting online once a day until the very end in a final drive for victory.

The daily online vote is open until November 18 when the totals of the three finalists will be added to the voting by the competition’s judges who toured the town recently to see for themselves just how good Pateley is.

Nidderdale Chamber of Trade chairman Keith Tordoff said: “Pateley Bridge was still at the top at week three with two still to go. Let’s make sure we win at the awards in London. We are leaving no stone unturned to drum up more votes. It would mean so much to folk in the Dale and local businesses to show everyone we have the best high street in Britain.”

Julian Smith, MP for Skipton and Ripon is right behind Pateley Bridge’s bid to beat Kirkby Lonsdale on the edge of the Lake District and the ancient market town of Langport in Somerset.

The MP visited the town today, Friday to lend his support and has also been merrily tweeting his backing for Pateley on social media, too.

And Pateley Bridge’s efforts to win top prize have reached new heights in the last seven days.

Keith Tordoff and and Tim Ledbetter of the chamber of trade went around Pateley Bridge ina Range Rover on Saturday while Keith wielded a megaphone to get people to go to Spar to vote.

They tweeted what we were doing to Julian

Smith with a link to a video and the MP then retweeted it to his followers on Saturday.

Katie Chandler from the Spar on the High Street had a sandwich board she was wearing promoting voting for Pateley Bridge.

She also had an iPad so that people could go and vote while shopping on Saturday and is going to offer help in this regard again this Saturday.

Nidderdale High School and its headmistress Ms Dover kindly agreed to allow Keith Tordoff to address the full school at morning assembly yesterday, Wednesday to spread the word and

ask everyone to keep on voting online one a day for

Pateley Bridge.
