First and foremost congratulations to the team at the Harrogate Flower Shows for the uplifting event that was ‘Spring Essentials’ last
month.

It may been have been muddy, wet and windy but it was truly wonderful. It was such a joy to be part of this special outdoor event and despite the torrential rain at times, the Visit Harrogate team absolutely relished the opportunity to be out and about promoting our Gardens Campaign and to chat to visitors in person.

As mentioned last month, our Gardens Campaign is an invitation to come and ‘See how our gardens grow.’ We want visitors to explore our glorious gardens and experience our gardening events.

We are focussing on eight of the best gardens from across the Harrogate District, each unique and captivating in its own right. Here’s a reminder of our campaign gardens:

The National Trust World Heritage Site at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden and National Trust Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens. The RHS Garden Harlow Carr and Newby Hall and Gardens.

In addition to these well-known gardens we are also featuring some beautiful hidden gems: The Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park, Markenfield Hall, Ripon Walled Garden and Rudding Park Kitchen Garden.

Fabulous Flower Shows

Following on from the success of the Harrogate Flower Show ‘Spring Essentials’, next up is the RHS Garden Harlow Carr Summer Show at the end of the month from June 24-27.

If you don’t make this show then don’t worry as later in the year, they will be holding an additional two-day Autumn Garden Show on September 4-5.

Also in September is the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show in its new home at Newby Hall. Here you can enjoy two great days out in one as admission to the show also includes access to Newby Hall’s award-winning gardens.

Tickets are available online now, the show runs from September 17-19.

Escape the Everyday in Ripon

We’re very excited to be working with Visit Britain and Welcome to Yorkshire to promote the wonderful cathedral city of Ripon as part of the ‘Escape the Everyday’ cities campaign featuring summer city breaks.

With a thriving marketplace, independent shops and cafes, a magnificent cathedral, fascinating museums and only a stone’s throw away from many award winning gardens and attractions, there is so much to explore in and around Ripon. Without question, Ripon really is the little city that packs a big punch and the perfect place for a summer break.
