Nidderdale League postpones opening day cricket schedule
Wet weather has caused a nightmare to league groundsmen over the winter and several clubs have struggled to prepare pitches.
In a statement, the league said it had consulted groundsmen from across the league and made the decision with further rain forecast over the weekend.

Hide AdLeague secretary Graham Hyde said “As a league we wish to give every player the chance to play cricket but realistically we are facing a very wet start to the season and if we can help grounds be in the best shape they can be, to provide the best conditions for cricket we must enable that opportunity.”
All fixtures originally scheduled for April 16 will now take place one week after the scheduled finish of the season, on Saturday, September 17.
Should matches be postponed again on April 23, the match will be a no-result and the points shared.
Meanwhile, the Wetherby League will decide on whether to postpone all of their opening day fixtures on Thursday evening.
