Story time for the under fives: takes place at Mashamshire Community Library, 7 Little Market Place, Masham today, Thursday, June 13 at 9.30am. In association with Acorns and North Yorkshire County Council. The session takes place every 2nd Thursday of the month. All welcome to this relaxed session, no booking required, just turn up. North Yorkshire Open Studios: are on this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 15 and 16. Artists across the county open up their studios to show their work. In the Masham area, printmaker Hester Cox is at her home studio on Fisher Row in Masham, painter Ian Scott Massie, mixed-media artist Josie Beszant, ceramicist Charlotte Morrison and mixed-media and papercut artist Rosie Scott Massie are at the ArtisOn studios, just outside Masham at High Burton, HG4 4BS. Afternoon Tea: with the Music Men from Ripon Community Link at Masham Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, June 15 from 3pm until 4.30pm. Enjoy a mix of music from folk to rock, bid for a favourite song from the menu and join in. Treat yourself to tea or coffee and home-baked cakes. There is no entry charge but donations are welcome. Holy Communion: this Sunday, Holy Communion is celebrated at St Paul’s Church, Healey at 9.15am and at St Mary’s Church, Masham at 10.45am.

Masham Methodist Church Services: this Sunday, June 16 the service is at 10.30 and led by Rev Pat Malham. King’s Praise is at 6.30pm.

Masham School Annual Duck Race: has moved downstream this year to Nutwith Cote Farm, near Roomer Common from 2.30pm on Sunday, June 16. Lots of fun, games, tug of war and plastic ducks floating down the river plus a barbeque and bar. Ducks are available to buy for £1 from Masham News, Rogers Butchers, Wensleydale Garage, King’s Head Hotel and Masham School. Corporate ducks cost just £10 this year. Heart for Mashamshire: is a prayer group praying for Masham and wider concerns. The group meets fortnightly and is open to anyone. The next meeting is on Monday, June 17 at 10am at Stanhope, 51 Market Place, Masham. For further details, please contact Janet Newey on 01765 689 302.

Pram Praise: at St Mary’s Church, Masham for the parishes of Healey, Masham, North Stainley, Well with Snape and West Tanfield on Tuesday, June 18 at 2.45pm. Please note it is not the usual second Tuesday in the month.

Masham Photographic Club: meets at the Kings Head Conference Room, Masham on Tuesday, June 18 at 7.30pm. They say don’t work with children and animals, but Andrea Dennis is going to show that it is possible to photograph animals. Non members are welcome to all meetings and a nominal charge of £3 is requested.

Do you fancy: some company or a cuppa? Coffee is served at the Wednesday drop-in from 10.30am to noon each week at Masham Methodist Church. Rev David Richardson is normally available in chapel during that time. There is a coffee morning in the Chapel School Room each Saturday from 10.30am until noon.

Junior Rendezvous: all children from Years 1 to 6 are very welcome at Masham Methodist Church Hall on Wednesday, June 19 from 6pm. The club meets for organised fun, games, crafts and more. If you are interested in joining the group, please call Hazel Booth on 01765 689809.

Community Meal: each Wednesday evening, Bivouac host an evening to get together, relax and enjoy delicious food from 5.30pm. Pre-booking is essential, by calling 01765 535020.

St Paul’s Church Quiz Sheet: is available from R F Broadleys and Mashamshire Community Office or by stamped addressed envelope to Tez Robson, Stott Fold Farm, Healey, Ripon, HG4 3LU. The quiz theme is the Wardrobe and the Elements and costs £1.

Summer Reading Challenge Volunteers: North Yorkshire County Council Libraries need volunteers to help with the Summer Reading Challenge. Are you aged 14-25, do you love books and reading, do you enjoy working with children? If so, North Yorkshire Libraries need you!
