The Masham Players: present An Inspector Calls by JB Priestley at Masham Town Hall. The production runs from Thursday, April 4 until Saturday, April 6 and the curtains are raised at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7 for adults and £5 for concessions and can be bought from Mashamshire Community Office, 7 Little Market Place, Masham HG4 4DY or call 01765 680200. Tickets are also available on the door, depending on availability.

Thousand Kisses Deep: BBC award winning vocalist Christine Tobin presents a wonderful evening of poetry and song celebrating the spellbinding words and music of Leonard Cohen. Together with long time collaborators Phil Robson on guitar and Dave Whitford on double bass they take you on a journey through Cohen’s classic repertoire. The performance is at Newton-Le-Willows Village Hall, near Masham on Friday, April 5 at 8pm. For tickets, please telephone 01677 450715 or turn up on the night. Coffee morning and Traidcraft: at Masham Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, April 6 from 10.30am-noon. Cakes and home produce, books and gifts. Fairly traded goods include tea, coffee, chocolate, breakfast cereals, dried fruit, honey, stationery and household products from around the world. All are welcome.

Holy Communion: is at St Paul’s Church, Healey at 9.15am and St Mary’s Church, Masham at 8am this Sunday, April 7. The Family service is at St Mary’s Church at 10.45am.

Methodist Church Service: is at 10.30am at Masham Methodist Chapel on Sunday, April 7. The service is led by Rev David Richardson. Janet Newey is leading the service at Maple Creek at 6.30pm.

Coffee morning: at Mashamshire Community Library, 7 Little Market Place, Masham on Tuesday, April 9 from 10.30am-noon. Come along and support the library, chat to the volunteers and have a cup of coffee. The library coffee morning is held regularly on the second Tuesday of the month. Lift and stair access.

Pram Praise: at St Mary’s Church, Masham for the parishes of Healey, Masham, North Stainley, Well with Snape and West Tanfield on Tuesday, April 9 at 2.45pm. A relaxed session of stories, songs and rhymes for young children, parents and carers with comfortable chairs, carpet and cushions. Toys, tea, coffee and time to talk afterwards. The group finishes in time to collect older children from school or Acorns.

Free family adventure day: at Hackfall Woods on Wednesday, April 10 from 11am-4pm. At this drop-in session take part in woodland printmaking with Hester Cox and a whole range of nature detective activities including pond dipping at Fountains Pond. Darts and dominoes knock-out: at the White Bear, Masham on Friday, April 12. There is a £3 entry fee, pie and pea supper and a raffle. For more information, call the White Bear on 01765 389319.

The Yoredale News is produced by the local Church of England churches and is delivered free every month to every home in Healey, Masham, North Stainley, Nosterfield, Snape, Well, West Tanfield and the surrounding area, costing approximately £12,000 a year. Although some of the cost is covered by advertising revenue there is still a shortfall of £9,000. Can you make a donation of any amount towards the cost of producing this community magazine? St Paul’s Church coffee morning: despite the cold, damp weather, St Paul’s coffee morning at Masham Town Hall was very well attended and over £500 was raised for church funds. Many thanks are due to everyone who helped run and donated to such a successful event.
